Did any of you check earth.google.com yet? It's this program which lets you navigate over the world based on satellite imagery. So you can view practically every location of the world from space. When you find an interesting location, you can save the coordinates in a *.KMZ file, which enables you to show that location to other people.

Here's how it works:

1 Go to http://earth.google.com

2 Select downloads, and download and install Google Earth.

3 US residents can fill in their address in the “fly to” search box. If everything goes well, the program will take you to your home.

Non-US res. Have to do a manual search, which cannot be too hard.

5 When you've found your house, you can save that location by pressing the “drawing pin” button in the right hand corner and selecting place mark, or simply by pressing Ctrl-N.

6 A window pops up in which you can fill in the location's name, and some details. When you're done, press OK.

7 Now your location is shown in the left hand side “places menu” under “my places”.

8 To save the location as a KMZ file, right click the location and select “save as”.

9 Send this file to whomever you want to share with, so they can find out where you live!

You'll need to have google earth installed to view them.

US locations (especially in populated areas i.e. cities) are very detailed. .

For those who want to check other interesting sites in the world, check http://googleglobetrotting.com/

Good luck and I hope you like the idea.
